Sebastián del Hoyo was born on January 22, 1972, in La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. He began his studies at an early age. He studied harmony, composition and guitar with Jorge Armani and then with Juan Carlos Cirigliano (in Bs.As.).
On the road that took him to jazz, he joined several cover bands and accompanied prominent local artists.
In 1990 he formed his first jazz fusion quartet called ' La musa y el marinero ' together with Marcelo Barisani. ' Images Porteñas ' (year 1992) was recorded afterwards.
When this quartet dissolved, he had the opportunity to work as a session musician with Favio Posca and then during 1996 and 1997 he continued his musical work in Spain as a session musician.
Upon returning to Argentina, he toured different parts of the country with a group of German musicians from the ' Alex Sánchez ' quintet.
At the time, in 1999, he formed a new group, ' Tres Urbano ', with his own compositions within the rock fusion style. This was selected by the Third National Biennial of Young Art Mar del Plata 2000, and allowed him to record one of his songs 'Third National Biennial of Young Art Mar del Plata 2000' (year 2000).
In 2002 he was part of a ' Big Band ' composed of 19 musicians and was a member of the ' Sextet of Claudio Sánchez '.
Also in the same year he forms ' del hoyo trio ' together with Martín de Lassaletta and Javier Puyol. With the trio he began composing songs within the jazz fusion style, which led him to record ' del Hoyo Trío ' (2004).
In 2004 he joins Eduardo Palomo's project in ' Jam ' which lasts until mid-2005.
He taught harmony and guitar classes at I.M.M.C. (Instituto Marplatense De Música Contemporánea), as well as guitar clinics in Neuquén, Miramar and Mar del plata.
Currently he teaches classes at home.
He was Semifinalist of the National Improvisation Competition in Metrovía Jazz.
Already in 2006 he records his 2nd CD ' Vitro ' with new compositions of his authorship, which he presented in different stages of the country.
In January 2007 he received the ' Lobo de Mar 2007 ' award.
He has shared the stage with musicians such as Fats Fernadez, Pocho Lapouble, Alejandro Herrera, R. Pellican, Paul Dourge, and Jorge Armani among others.
He was awarded the ' Prize for Artistic Production 2008 '.
In the year 2009 he made the recording of his third CD 'Cause and effect'.
That same year he presented a new multimedia show called ' Baraka, the pulse of the image '.
